Following the speech in which Mary stunned millions around the world and brought the convention floor to silence and tears, she had a new role: ambassador of compassion in the fight against AIDS. That same year, she founded The Family AIDS Network. Mary Fisher makes more than 100 appearances and speeches annually, and all honoraria for her appearances are contributed to the Network, from which she receives no salary or income. In addition to her tireless work on behalf of HIV/AIDS, she is an acclaimed artist and author. She is frequently featured in print and broadcast media and her work has been recognized with numerous honors and awards.
