  Roger Herman
Category: Futurists

In brief Roger E. Herman is a strategic business futurist concentrating on workforce and workplace trends.

Fee Range:

He is the author of ten books, including Keeping Good People, The Process of Excelling, Signs of the Times, Workforce Stability: Your Competitive Edge (March 2000), and How to Become an Employer of Choice (April 2000). Over 500 of his articles have been published, and his column appears regularly in trade magazines. Mr. Herman serves as contributing editor, Workforce and Workplace Trends, for The Futurist magazine.

Mr. Herman is a graduate of Hiram College (BA, Sociology) and holds a master’s in Public Administration from The Ohio State University. During the Viet Nam era, he served as a counterintelligence special agent. Mr. Herman is a certified management consultant and certified speaking professional. He is also a senior fellow of The Workforce Stability Institute and serves on the national board of directors of the Institute of Management Consultants.

Basing his ideas on continuous research into trends that affect the way we do business, Mr. Herman delivers forecasts, perspectives, and insights on workforce, workplace, and workstyle issues to help corporate leaders plan for the future. He’s upbeat about the future, but he also warns of certain challenges and changes that can make employers and workers seriously vulnerable. He delivers his messages through speeches, writing, and consulting.

Characterized as a modern-day Paul Revere, he alerts people to coming shifts and how to prepare for them. Mr. Herman predicts a number of shifts that will dramatically change what we do and how we do it. Forewarned is forearmed. He notes that no trend can be viewed as standing alone. Each trend he explores is influenced by other trends in our society. Local, national, and international influences must be taken into account in an effort to be as accurate and legitimate as possible. With his help, Mr. Herman’s clients see the greater flow of the trends and shifts.

Roger Herman is provocative. He stimulates thinking, challenging, exploring, explaining, and revealing probabilities that go way beyond current thinking. A reporter who heard Roger speak a few years ago simply didn’t believe his forecasts. She described him as a "crackpot." Now, having seen his predictions come true, she calls him a "visionary." Talk show interviewers depict him as "fascinating," "contrarian," and a man who "can see around corners." His solid content and sharp insights make Mr. Herman a popular guest on radio and television talk shows coast to coast. Mike Murphy of KCMO Talk Radio, Kansas City, declared, "My interview with Roger Herman ranks as one of our top ten shows of the year."
